The Cinque Terre (5 villages) form one of the great unspoiled areas of the Mediterranean and Liguria. They are cliffside fishing villages that retain the lifestyle of the Italian past. A visit to the Cinque Terre is a unique experience of seeing five villages suspended between the sea and the earth, clinging on to cliffs and surrounded by lush green hills. You will see the history of the inhabitants who for centuries have tilled the rugged wild landscape to produce wonderful foods and wines. You will learn about the culture of the dry stone walls and of the vineyard, of the fishermen and their paths through steep valleys to the sea below. In the Cinque Terre you can dive in the sea, hike on the hills, walk in the narrow alleys called "carruggi", take a boat trip along the rugged coastline, or make a pilgrimage to a sanctuary.
